What age were you when you walked into your first med school class??

27 here... I don't feel like I am old at all to be starting med. school. Even during undergrad I felt that I fit in enough. Sure, I didn't do the whole partying thing as I had already gotten it out of my system and learned from it, but other than that I felt that I was at the right place for this time of my life and am assuming the same will hold true in future endeavors. I don't know if I would have made med. school taking the 'traditional' track.

whoknows2012]rx515....what made you decide to go from a pharmD to med school? Dont you feel like you did sooo much extra work?

Also curious.
Sure it was some extra work, but I did get some great experiences. I did a 6 year (2+4) program out of high school and made the decision to do pharmacy before I fully understood what I wanted to do with my life. I decided to apply to med school when I was in my 2nd year of pharm school (4th year overall). By that time it would have taken me an extra year to get a BS anyways so I figured I might as well finish and have a great backup if things didn't work out. (also a decent part time job) P3 year was a lot of work but rotations were a breeze so it wasn't so bad. Plus technically I can already call myself: Dr. Rx515 but it still feels a little weird.

Good for you, man. 👍 Kind of wish I did that myself... didn't have a clue about 2+4s when I was 18, though.

40! Not the oldest in my class, either.😀

34 when I started. I'm the class old dude.

I will be 22 when I begin MS1. I'm glad I came across this thread; as chance would have it, I was just wondering earlier today what the age distribution would be for my class.

I'll be 22, which is considered old for my class. Damn those six year BS/MD programs.

24.

I'd venture to guess that while the mean is 24, the majority are 22-ish as it gets skewed by the > 30'ers.

I will have been 23 for a week when I start.

And WTF, no one else is 23. I see a ton of 22s, a lot of 24s, and others scattered. What happened to being 23?

Nobody likes you when you're 23.

The prime number years are always the most awkward. Good thing they happen less frequently as you get older.

I'm gonna be 21!

With any luck, I'll be 26 when starting, turning 27 during exam week (or at least that's how it's been for 98% of my schooling years). I've been in school the entire time... Took a detour and got a PharmD, now trying to get in for MD/DO.

21, too bad I can't say that will be my age AFTER med school...we can wish can't we?

I'll be 20 hopefully... if luck acts as a b*tch.. 21.. still not bad..

I'll be 23 when I start...soon...

I'll be 20 for the first 2 months and then I'll turn 21 in october. 24 when I graduate med school and approx. 27 when I finish residency (if I do a 3 year residency).
