What are MCAT verbal keywords to be aware of?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There aren't any conclusive key words to be aware of. I've seen all sorts of prep material that focuses on key words in verbal.

Do not do this!

The actual testing service companies are very aware of these sort of biases. You must eliminate answers based on logic and reasoning. Do not start a habit of looking for what is not there.

Yes, yes, yes! :highfive:

I would like to add that there are keywords one should be able to steadfastly recognize in order to spot an argument (premises and inferences).

Keywords
-----------

  • Words such as Assume, Since, Obviously and Because introduce the premises of an argument
  • Inference steps are often identified by phrases like "therefore..." or "... implies that...”
These are fairly intuitive, and if you find the need to memorize them...well, there are only six! 🙂

@Ash366 - All of this is contained in my Verbal Methodology Primer 😉 The link to the pdf is in my signature!

Interesting list.. I don't think it's worth looking over more than once though. Looking out for "always" and "never" and similar extremes has sufficed for me.

I found this. Do you think this is enough to remember or is there more etc. Thanks.

looking it over won't hurt, but anything more than looking it over is a waste of time. with practice, these words will automatically grab your attention. however, I think that committing them to memory in the manner you are implying will not translate into enhanced recognition of the words on the test.
