Hello everyone this is my first blog post. Okay so I just wanted to hear from more wise and understanding people, because this semester I am getting pretty discouraged. So I want to go to dental school and I have already taken Bio 1 and Microbiology and I recieived a flat B in both of them. Now I am currently taking Chem 1 and Bio 2 this semester. To be honest, this semester I had just moved out so I probably should have combined Chem 1 and Bio 2, but anyways it happened. I have a B in chem 1 but my bio 2 I just have not been putting in the effort that I should be (which is stupid of me)... But yeah I was just wondering, do you think it would be an awful idea to withdraw from Bio 2 and then retake it next semester. [I really do think I can get in A in there next semester, this semester I just don't have my head in the game.) I just keep getting discouraged because I am getting B's in all of my science classes which is keeping my sGPA at a 3.0 which is awful 🙁 any tips or ideas to keep me more confident. I am only a sophomore in my first semester. Thanks for any help you can give me guys!

For the first bolded, IMO, it's always easier to explain a "W" grade than a "D" or "F". Under any circumstances.

For the second bolded, there's no secret, you already know what you need to do. Suck it up and go hard.

For the third bolded, find out why this is quickly and fix whatever it is that is holding you back. If you want to pull your GPA up from a 3.0 it's going to take work, and that usually entails sacrifice, be it time with friends, family, etc.

There is a good reason why the courses you are taking are called "weeder classes". B grade isn't so bad, but aiming for B+/A- is where you should be.

And I agree with previous poster, W looks alot better than an E or a D

Thanks guys so much for the responses! Seriously I appreciate the concern and wisdom.
