What are my chances with a cGPA 3.93 and a sGPA of a 3.95 as a student athlete but with a MCAT of 500? Is it worth applying or should I look DO instead? Thank!
I applied to Cooper already and I think that is going to be my best shot, but it would be my third time so I am hesitant but both times I took it I was still competing and in school full time, so I do think I could improve.
I have 100+ volunteer hours, I was a tutor, a team captain and a division 1 school, I have about 50 hours of shadowing, and just started volunteering at a medical clinic. I have a 500 on the MCAT and a 3.93 cumulative GPA and a 3.95 science GPA. I don't think my New Jersey residency will help all that much, and Brody was a part of the reason I switched states. I have volunteered in labs for 200+ hours. I took the MCAT twice already so I am very hesitant to take it again. I am thinking of looking into a post bacc program but I'm not really sure what to do. I am also hesitant to go DO because I would like to specialize. If there is anything I left out, let me know!
Okay so I completely disagree with Wedge Dawg! My boyfriend is in a DO program now. I am premed so I do have the advantage of taking to some people who look at applications.
First great job on your GPA that's awesome! I specifically asked an administrator what score they were looking for on the MCAT and she said that they are not sure how they are going to look at the MCAT because they have seen really bright people do poorly.
Don't give up on medical school! At least apply. NC has so many medical school options including a DO school (Campbell). Hope this helps! Trust me I feel your pain with this MCAT! When I took the MCAT the first time my score was so bad that it looked like I didn't even study. It hard to keep pushing forward, but do t give up!
