Hello,

I am a senior looking to apply to med school this coming cycle. I kind of passively went through college without applying myself and I have very mediocre stats and EC's. I also will prob have mediocre LOR's since I haven't gotten to know profesors:

1 year of working in a clinic mostly shadowing and clerical work like filing, typing and taking phone calls
1 year of tutoring high school students
A little less than a year of research (no LOR)

I probably will have more clinical hours before applying (hospital volunteer/nursing home). I am taking the MCAT soon.

Do you think I have a shot at at least DO schools and what should I do to improve my chances. Should I do some summer research program?

We can't say what your chances are without knowing your stats...

As long as you have a MCAT of at least 500 you will be competitive for some DO schools. If you score 507 or higher you have a chance for interviews at some MD schools. Where is your state of residence?

New York. What EC's would you say I should focus on right now.

Should I apply to some summer program like research programs or clinical research programs?
