Hey, Senior ORM Neurobiology and Physiology major here planning to apply next cycle, would love any feedback 🙂

  • Year in school: Senior graduating in May 2018
  • Country/state of residence: Maryland
  • Schools to which you are applying: Haven't made a list yet but University of Maryland School of Medicine is definitely a top choice and broadly to MD and DO
  • Cumulative GPA: 3.21, expect it to be around ~3.3 by the time I graduate
  • Science GPA: 3.21, expect to be ~3.3 by graduation
  • MCAT Scores: Taking in Spring 2018
  • Research – include any abstracts/posters/publications and how you were credited (eg. First author, senior author, etc): No pubs but conducted research at NIH, FDA, Rush University Medical Center, and University of Maryland (all around ~3-5 months each)
  • Volunteering (clinical) – include hours/sites: Medical Clinic volunteer scribe- 100+ hours and Baltimore Rescue Mission Clinic for Homeless Population - 50 hours
  • Physician shadowing – include hours/specialties - none yet but plan to shadow soon
  • Non-clinical volunteering - Volunteer at my temple currently helping make and serve food, looking to volunteer at more places before applying
  • Extracurricular activities - Director of Social Media for SGA (1 year), Social Media Chair and Member of Eyes on Health Club (2 years), and Pre-Medical Society Member (1.5 years); Also: Biking, Sudoku Enthusiast, Guitar (12 years), Weightlifting, Tennis, and Swimming
  • Employment history: University of Maryland Office of Education - Clerical/Office Assistant, Rush University - Research Assistant, Nordstrom - Sales Associate, and FDA - Research Intern
  • Immediate family members in medicine? (y/n): No
  • Specialty of interest: Don't know yet, leaning towards Neurology

Until you have your MCAT score it is virtually impossible to give any info regarding interview possibilities. You can’t really develop a good list. Your GPAs are very low for MD. You should focus on DO. You might want to do some searches here because I think I’ve read that Maryland isn’t that friendly to their instate applicants. Don’t apply without shadowing. For other non clinical activities try homeless shelters, soup kitchens etc..

Why did you double post?
