Alright ya'll. So I have just graduated with a 3.8 overall GPA and a 3.65 BCPM. I plan on taking the MCAT on March 24th. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I did not volunteer or do any research. I have only interned for 40 hours and have worked throughout my undergraduate studies. I was planning on volunteering for at least 100 hours and I have also applied to be a scribe for 20 hours a week. Will it look bad on my medical school applications if I have only volunteered/shadowed mostly from this December to April? What are my chances of getting into a medical school in Texas with this overall GPA, this BCPM, and a 500(I'm shooting for at least a 500) on the MCAT? Be honest and criticize, I don't mind 🙂 If you can also, please give me advice on what else you think I should do.

Your GPA's are good for the Texas MD schools. You do need 50 hours of physician shadowing (including primary care) and 200+ hours of clinical volunteering before you apply. If your MCAT is at least 508 then you should receive several interviews from your Texas schools. A 500 MCAT would be fine for at least some DO schools.

Does being a scribe also count as physician shadowing? It won't look bad if all of this shadowing and volunteering is done in a 4-5 month time frame? Thankyou for your answers!

Physician shadowing of several specialties would be helpful. The time frame is not important at this point. You need the hours.
