Hey!

I'm applying to osteopathic schools this cycle and wanted to get an idea of where I stand. My UG science GPA is about a 3.1 and I have a MS where my GPA is around a 3.6. My MCAT score is 505 and I have a lot of research experience. worked as a nurse aid, and shadowed a DO (have a letter as well).
Some Questions:
1. Is it too late to apply if I submit my application for verification today?
2. What schools do I have the stats for and what schools are a bit of a reach?
3. Thoughts?

1. It is not too late
2. Your MCAT should be fine for DO but your GPA is low, depending on how graduate coursework is factored in.

I would at least look at LECOM and BCOM and perhaps UIW SOM if you fit their mission.

So I did it out and my UG science GPA was a 3.03 (I got pretty sick in undergrad) and if I get the overall GPA from including my graduate, then it becomes approximately 3.2. Don't know if that helps, haha. That being said all my graduate course work is science.

Tip - don't apply to VCOM schools, as they are very GPA heavy and less so MCAT (you have the opposite of this)
Plently of DO schools should give you an II in my opinion though...

I wish I had known this earlier because I already applied there (yikes). But thank you for your input!!

Apply broadly to DO programs. Your graduate GPA shows you can handle upper-level science courses. While your GPAs are below average, your MCAT is above average for a lot of DO programs and you can make up your application in other areas (personal statement, letters of rec, etc.) Apply, it isn't too late!
