Hello! I am a black woman with a cumulative GPA of 4.0 and an MCAT score of 502. I also have done research, shadowing, scribing for ~3 years, volunteering, tutoring, and held high positions in other organizations. I wanted to know what my chances were when applying to MD schools? If so, which ones?

Do you have the MSAR? If not buy it and use it to develop a list. Right off hand I’d say apply to your state public schools and the HBCUs. Be careful of OOS public schools since they usually favor their own residents. Good Luck.

Yes I have the MSAR! I will for sure apply to those scools. Also what is OOS public schools? Do you recommend applying DO as well? Thank you!

You have a decent chance for MD if you're able to represent yourself well in the application.
Thank you! That gives me hope. Do you have any tips for the application process or are you referring to generally representing myself well?

I recommend:
Your state schools
The HBCs (including UCLA/Drew)
IU
U WV
Wayne State
U VM
U Toledo
Rush
NYMC
Creighton
Albany
Rosy Franklin
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
MCW
SLU
Wayne State
Tulane
Loyola
Wake Forest
Loma Linda (only if you are SDA or a very devout Christian)
VCU
Netter
Seton Hall
EVMS
Oakland-B
Gtown
GWU
Uniformed Services University/Hebert (just be aware of the military service commitment)
Nova MD
Any DO program. I can't recommend Touro-NY, Nova, Wm Carey, LUCOM, for different reasons. MSUCOM? Read up on Larry Nasser and you decide. LMU has an accreditation warning, which concerns me.

OOS public schools are state schools in states you are not a resident. Like if you are from MI -the state schools from every other state would be considered OOS(out of state) for you. @Goro ‘s list is great. I can’t tell specifically from what you’ve shared how much service etc. you have done. But if you have that and clinical experience and shadowing places like Loyola, SLU and Creighton are good places. As are many others on the list. Good Luck.

Thank you so much for this list, it truly helped out a lot! Do you believe that if I apply only to MD schools, I would receive an admission? I'm debating on if I want to go the DO route or not.

I can only advise on chances of getting interviews. Getting an acceptance is 100% on you. I recommend that if you don't get any Love by November from MD schools, that you add a few DO schools to the list
