Hey all,
What are my chances of admittance?

Undergraduate GPA: 2.93 (worked full-time, and had several very serious family related trials occur)
AADSAS undergraduate GPA: 2.61 (approximate)
Master's Degree GPA: 3.45 (first-year medical school courses)
1 year of research at a medical school etc.
I haven't taken the DAT yet, but am studying like crazy for it.

Do I even have a chance given my undergraduate GPA?

Thanks for your help.

the DAT will make or break you. get 20+ across the board and you might get in if you apply really early... anything less and your GPA will be the end of you.

From experience of being a reject I agree. Take kaplan online, it worked for me.

Well one thing you have to make sure you do, is put some of your problems into your personal statement. I do agree that the DAT will be extremely important and with the competition nowadays... you may need some 21s and 22s. The Kaplan classroom course is truly a waste of time.... I have a friend that does MCAT and I passed the interview to do DAT but you really dont cover that much. The online materials that they give you however are amazing. There are 10 tests that you take online with explanations to each question. You get the timing down and when you take the test, you feel much more relaxed. They also have particular subjects that they cover in depth because they come up on just about every test.

I definitely think that you have a chance. Just study like a maniac for the DAT, SHADOW a dentist for at least 50 hours or so, write a PERSONAL personal statement, and get some really good LORs. Also, I suggest looking into which schools are more forgiving about GPA problems. I recommend getting the ADEA's guide to dental schools. It lists GPA and DAT scores. This will give you an idea about where to apply.
Good luck!!
