1 semester of field research and about 150-200hrs of shadowing. I want to go to NYU.

Those stats should get you an interview somewhere. I'd say your chances are pretty good with NYU.

Your stats look great to me, and will definitely get you an interview somewhere. I think your chances at NYU are good, but you may not get a pre-December 1st interview if you're just now applying. At least that seems to be the consensus among SDNers about applying anything later than July or August. Lol.

You've probably already seen this but check out NYU's predents page:

I should warn you not to excessively compare yourself to the interviewees because some of these people are 😱 with their stats. They're not an accurate sample of the general population of NYU applicants. They represent only a small number of applicants and generally have higher stats than the average applicant. If you'll just look at some of the interviewees, you'll see that several of them have similar stats as you. You can also look at previous cycles for # interviewed and # accepted.

Again, from what you've presented, you're pretty solid and stand a good chance of getting interviews. Good luck!

I am actually applying early next summer. Until then I plan on getting straight A's in all my upper level courses in addition to physics (which I put off till now...). I will also take the opportunity to do a bunch of community service to round my application off.

WTF why are you worried 😱
3/4 of the battle is won so far, you have your DAT scores, good GPA and few more classes to go.

I am worried because the stats are all over the place and SDN is full of overachievers that make me look like a *****...hehe.

You're at a great starting point then. No worries on the DAT department. None. Just concentrate on the straight A's now, and both your overall and science GPA will look great. What you have right now GPA wise won't stop you, but it'll obviously be far more competitive if you increase them. The community services will definitely look good for EC. You're headed in the right direction. Just don't be like me by applying late next year. Lol. You'll do great next summer.

SDN isn't an accurate sample of the general population and the standards on here are much higher. You are an overachiever yourself with the scores you have already and for choosing dentistry. Lol. There are many who have been accepted into dental school with lower stats than you. I think SDNers in general prefer to be fully secure in their stats than sorry. In other words, we prefer a mattress to fall back on rather than padding. Lol, not unwise if you think about it. Just choose your schools wisely and apply early . There's no way you won't get an interview if you do that. Keep it up!

Ah, thank you for the kind words. It feels nice to have all the weight lifted off my shoulders. I have a question for you guys, though. I don't think I have an AADSAS account so I am wondering where my scores are going to be sent to. Are they floating around in limbo or something lol?

To answer your question, yes they are floating around in limbo.
You need to register for an AADSAS account, and have the DAT scores uploaded to that account via your DentPin.

You can request a copy of your official DAT scores if you pay the ADA $25. The form is on the ADA website.

Awesome, thank you!

Anyone know how I get my official DAT score?

NOVA
Tufts
NYU
Boston
Maryland
Temple
UF
USC
UCLA
UCSF
Louisville
UPenn
Columbia
