Hi, so i was wondering what my chances are to get into either med schools or d.o. schools.

I took the MCAT for the first time in May and got a 28Q (10VR, 8PS, 10BS).

Im going into my senior year at Temple University
My non-science GPA is 3.76, science GPA is 3.03, and overall is 3.42.

My ec's include volunteering at a hospital in the ER for 20 hours, shadowing an MD (and will begin to shadow a DO soon), and volunteering for a non-profit health organization Humanity First (which included organizing blood drives, soup kitchens, adopt-a-highway, and a charity walk).

Do I have any realistic chances of being accepted to either Med or DO schools? I know my MCAT score is low for med but is it enough to get me into DO? I was thinking of taking it again, my PS score was low, physics killed me so i think if i can get that down i can bring my score up a point or two.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

are you trying to apply this cycle? if so hop to it, times a wasting. i think your mcat is perfectly fine for DO, but on the lower side for MD. however.. your science gpa is really going to hurt you, DO and MD. if you don't get in this year i'd consider retaking some of the science classes you did poorly in

Yes I am applying for this cycle. I submitted my aacomas and amcas today.
If I can bring my mcat up to a 30, will that make up for my low gpa for d.o?

a science gpa of 3.03 is very low even for DO. i'm not an expert on DO admission, but i'm pretty sure that raising your mcat a few points wont make a huge difference. above a certain point, it won't change anything. a 28 is great for DO, i suggest you start your retake of classes as soon as you can. and apply broadly to DOs this year.
