Hey guys, I have a GPA and DAT both above the average for the matriculated student. What are my chances?!!?

well its too late to check ADEA guide for GPA/DAT avgs, but you probably should have consulted that book. Go visit the school websites, sometimes they have stats of incoming classes.

your chances should be great, like the above poster said, you have above average everything. only thing is im not sure is about that TA rec...it might not count as a "professor" but u should call your Dschools about that. I also hope you have more ECs than just shadow and research because to me that seems really bare-boned. unless you were a superstar researcher and got published.

also, if you read, you would know Columbia wants THREE science LOR, but you have two. another thing, why not apply to UNC since you went there for undergrad?

The TA who wrote LOR for me was the actual instructor for the course and there was no "course professor." But yeah I should have got that one from other science faculty. I just want to get away from UNC.....

About EC, I was president of a student organization for 1 year and vp as well. And I was enrolled in about 4 different S.O. (just as a member). Would that be enough?

I was hoping someone could tell me what school I would have a good chance of getting in. Btw what do you mean "that book?"

Bump for what? You asked a dumb question. Sometimes I wonder why students with the highest GPA's and DAT scores post this crap?? You HAVE to be intelligent......Read between the lines!

Most schools require you to be president of 4+ students organizations for at least 3 years a piece to even be considered. Also being a member of 4 students organizations is not enough, the average accepted applicant for dental school was involved in 29 student organizations.

Honestly, I was just looking for some advice or suggestion but I guess bashing is all I get. I guess I should have done really bad to get some advices here.

To answer the OPs question you have a very good chance at getting into many of these schools. Just don't screw up the interviews.

Also the 17RC is not going to stop you from getting in IMO

I'm sorry. 🙁
Your numbers are rather good so don't worry. Some people just don't take kindly to posts where the poster has numbers that are good enough, without question, and the fact that there is already a specific thread dedicated to these types of questions ( the "What are my chances thread"...but don't worry, no one actually follows the rule).

To put you at ease, I would suggest you look at http://www.ada.org/sections/professionalResources/pdfs/survey_ed_vol2.pdf

as well as

Hope this helps. 😀
