what are typical starting dates?

trying to plan vacations and stuff for next year (i'm a new 4th year now)... when does intern year usually start? july 1? or is it earlier? and do most programs have orientation beforehand too?

Intern year officially starts July 1. Most programs have orientation dates in the last week or two of June.

Our interns had orientation this week and will start seeing patients tomorrow, June 19.

You should plan on your program starting about 2 weeks before July 1. Many programs start after that but it would be a good time to get back from vacation before starting for real.

do you mind me asking which program you are located? the reason is that i am looking at programs in the south.

btw the reason i am being so compulsive about this is that i'm trying to plan my wedding, honeymoon, moving, etc... turns out it's not easy!

Mine started this week with BLS, ACLS, etc....

Next monday is official hospital orientation.

Will start seeing patients June 30th.
