So what are your plans for the next 8-9 months ? I already graduated from college so no classes to go to for me. I would really like to travel and there are so many places I want to visit, but unfortunately most of my budget was spent on this expensive application and interview process. So it looks like I'm going to end up doing boring things like working and going out when I have the time.

What about you guys ? Anyone have anything cool planned ?

Going to as many music festivals as I possibly can, maybe vegas!

...working. raise the roof.

However, I've scored a pretty sweet job in marketing that I start next week. They pay well, and I think the job might actually be interesting. I can't complain!

Do whatever I can to get into one. Man I love school, I can't live without school.

If UofL doesn't require me to take the one class I had on my planned coursework, I plan on catching up on everything I've missed out on this past year and a half when I started this journey.... visit friends in NY, SoCal, go back to NC, other random traveling as I see fit, work out a lot, work to make money, I would like to get and train a dog, relaxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I've been going for 5.5yrs straight!

Working currently. Quitting in late march, moving, reading for fun, practicing yoga, seeing friends and generally chill' until dschool 🙂

When I get accepted I will quit my job and travel for about 4-5 months with the money I have been saving up. It will be kind of odd to have no real life responsibilities (no work or school) for those several months before starting school (well hopefully starting...kinda contingent on me getting accepted first)

Keep working to save some money before school, but I might hit Vegas to blow up what I saved.
(this last sentence sounds creepy, dear NSA I meant to say spending money in Las Vegas.)

I guess I am insecure about how well I will do in D-school (and a nerd), so I plan on taking an anatomy class at a local community college just for "fun." BTW, I already graduated from college in May.

Finish my degree and graduate in May. Look for a new place to live (so excited about that one!) I think Lsu starts in July so with my whole 1 month of summer I would like to take a vacation somewhere nice 🙂

I was planning on doing this... then I got waitlisted.

I did however get "Netters Head and Neck Anatomy for Dental Students", which has been cool looking through.

My friend did that. He said his 3 month of studying was covered in 2 lectures, just FYI.
Not saying not to do it, but just saying don't be insecure because almost everyone will be on almost (almost) equal ground when starting D1!
Well, crap, I guess it may not be worth it then. I am just insecure about being behind everyone else!

Go make some $$. You will need lots of it when school starts. Taking some fun classes is a good idea as well. And go travel!

Finishing undergrad and finally taking some fun classes like hand building, vocal and american sign language. Then after next semester, go home and relax for the months leading up to D-school and end with a road trip from NYC to FL.

Any suggestions on where to stop along the east coast?? 😉

Lol, working and finishing pre-reqs.

august? i think i'll be starting dental school in june. ideally i'd sell my condo and travel around a bit. hit up redwood national, yosemite, and zion...but i'll actually be taking a class.

spending a month or so in Costa Rica!

fine, fine choice. i highly recommend arenal and quepos/manuel antonio. if you stay any longer than a few hours at a time in san jose...you're doing it wrong.

so looks like your set on UMich.. Congrats, I wish I had heard back from them

I will be trying to figure out why I have to aim about 20 degrees to the left to hit a fairway with my driver. Don't know if 8 months will be enough time

Graduating in May, working at the hospital, and hopefully gonna spend some time with my dentist learning the practice management side of things

I graduate next week. After that, I will work for an FDA center doing Toxicology research. Pretty tired of research, but it pays $20/hr and I'm broke. Around May, go to France/Spain to visit my/my fiancee's family. After that, go to Cameroon to visit my grandparents. In June, go to Brazil for two weeks to catch the beginning of the World Cup, then come back by the end of June. July, I guess I will be packing and apartment hunting and getting ready for school

Awesome plan, I'm graduating next week as well. Heading straight to Korea after that for an Asia tour. Super duper excited. Do you guys recommend studying for anything before dental school starts? If so, what'd be a good book to get? Thanks in advance

I've asked some current students at dental schools, and they all told me to just enjoy my time before school starts. They say that when it starts, that's it. If you want to review Biochem, you can, but apparently the students said that what we cover in undergrad for Biochem is about 2-3 weeks worth of lecture in dental school. They said it's almost not worth it. They said that if you should review something before dental school, make it Histology.

oh and in the summer visit Greece (where i grew up) :biglove:

Over the next month, choosing a school. I hate making decisions....

Otherwise, making some money and maybe going somewhere tropical in June or July. 😀

Taking one class in spring of 2014 to finish my degree while trying to find a job. Going back to my home town somewhere in South East Asia in the summer.

Wow, congrats!! My wife and I are having twins in March, so I'm in the same boat! Gonna be a crazy D1!

Oh my gosh that's awesome!! Double the fun, right?! It will definitely be a crazy first year, although in my situation I might possibly be deferring bc I'm due this summer, so that would be a pretty quick turnaround. Not sure if having a newborn or active one year old will be better, but the school I'll probably be going to has been incredibly supportive. I still need to work out the details and make a final decision about the deferral though. Congratulations to you and your wife!!

I did that. Started D1 in August, they showed up in March. I came out of a three-hour mock board exam to a message that she was in labor, epidural in, and everyone was waiting on me (50 miles away). It's a wild time.

Take 9 credits next semester, work 25+ hours till school starts, get married in may, probably go to Hawaii.

Working at Starbucks... Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Hopefully start substitute teaching here in the next few weeks, already passed the test to do so. Much easier than the DAT!

Pass my fall and spring classes.
Attend graduation.
Enjoy the few weeks before my mandatory summer session.

Most importantly, FINALLY RELAX.

- Become an Astronaut
- Write a series of fictional novels
- Earn my PGA Tour Card
- Climb Mount Everest
- Just be awesome in general
