What are you going to buy with your first real Doc paycheck?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I have super comfortable but extremely obnoxious LV soccer cleat/loafer/sneaker hybrid type things that I wear to work. Theyre on a rotation with pink ugg moccasins, pink toms, and glittery pink keds.

Bc why tf not

@fancymylotus and @wingedscapula so are you saying that these are then not the good buy that something like the Pigalle Plato in a nude or something? I've been hearing varying reviews of the platformless nudes shown there and would appreciate shared info. Short and poor women with an eye toward buying really great heels one day wonder about these things. I can tailor really well but a fine cobbler I am not. Not even a crappy cobbler.

My thought is that a nude or black Loub would be a really great "hey, you made it and here's your first paycheck that says so!" splurge that would continue to serve beautifully in the office, etc for a lovely long while. I'm sure the rest would involve a very nice steak dinner out with the hubby and our girls, and mortgage and fat loan payments, all while wearing those gorgeous things to console me about the money I'm *not* keeping.

All this said, my real ideal would be a D'Orsay Loub in crazy fun color(s). Possibly with a bit of a platform; see "short" above.

Anyone have any interesting ideas on what to buy when we finally make bank?

A nice house is probably is the only thing on my list. I am not into cars or luxury items. I am curious what others plans are?

First order of business is to take a nice and quiet vacation to make up for the endless hours of being confined to 4 walls because of studying!

IMHO you don't want to start with the "crazy fun" shoe especially if you're not used to spending that sort of money on a pair of shoes. You're better off with the plain Pigalle Loub as its more practical and you'll get more wear out of it (and you'll feel less guilty). But I hear ya...this is the I wanted (sold out of my size):

Make sure Loubs are for you -- I have a few pair but I find that Choos and Manolos are more comfortable for every day wear.

If you aren't used to wearing high heels, I wouldn't splurge on a platform less super high Loub. As @Winged Scapula said, Choos and Manolos are way more comfortable for everyday wear. And they're just as pretty as the Loubs. I've had a lot of success with Prada heels and sandals honestly. Super cute and comfortable.

There are some lower heeled Loub choices. I don't like round toe pumps, and I think that's what those are, though :/

That said, these were my graduation shooz. They make me happy 😀

Confession that I'm a little worried about this, too. I know that the eBay market for gently used fine heels is solid in my size, so I wouldn't be stuck with but a small amount of the total cost if a pair doesn't work for me but I would like to avoid that scenario if possible. Oh, dang, y'all, maybe I'll need to take a little trip down to Atlanta to try some on in person when that day comes! *wrist to forehead*

Those are super pretty!

As to heel height on the Loubs, thanks for the warning. I see that the really pretty lower-heeled ones I'd want are currently sold out now, but this is really down the road dreaming for me. 🙂

Man... Why don't they sell these around here?? I will take one of each minus that one in the back.

Nordstrom Rack? Maybe? By the way Nordstrom Rack always has Hugo Boss shoes (sneakers) and they are the most comfortable styling things around- I got mine for 70

Like some random guy, a guy kaus knew, I thought kaus was into guns, (and I don't mean his biceps)?
.
Guy I knew. Most of my friends outside of medicine have guns and carry them (it's legal). I've gotten used to it. They're smart about it, unlike people who bring them to clubs and get drunk, then pull the gun out like an idiot.
I can see how someone from a liberal state like New York would be surprised. But he wasn't doing it to show off. He just put it down with his phone and ****. People do that here.
Don't have a problem if I know you. I love guns. Shot so many of them and I miss it. Properly trained, you learn to understand. Plus, I feel way safer knowing god forbid someone threatens my life in public with these guys... someone is packing. And/or military trained.

Seriously especially here. I am no longer shocked when I see someone bend over and I see the sidearm.

What.

I guess it's just something I'm not used to, and so, am not comfortable with. And the guy in question wasn't exactly the brightest, and it was pretty late at night, and I had like 1.5 glasses of wine that night which meant I was well on my way to drunk already.

I am going to start buying organic produce and then start saving for trips around the world. I hope to go on several medical missions trips. I also would really like to become a philanthropist.

A lot of organic produce is super overrated and no different than their non organic counterparts....

Did I just admit that out loud?

I think people are scared of what they don't know.

If they that millions of tiny explosions occur within feet of their foot at they drive to work, they'd stop driving to work.

Back to things we want to buy with doctor monies.

1) my own oyster farm so I can eat as many bivalves as I want since I now know how to shuck an oyster

This is the Wild West baby.

I didn't say I was comfortable with it, given my feelings about firearms in general. My best friend's husband carries one everywhere; I have to remind him when he comes over here that the only call for a gun may be to straighten up those crazed women at the annual Lululemon sale.

So basically you've met Yosemite Sam right????

Kidding

But forreals, that lulu sale gets crazy

Are you two comparing carmina and hugo boss?

Lol, no. That GIF though. But since everybody is a shoe fan here, these Edward Greens are sure nice.

Edit: I'm kind of digging these boots from them.

Where do you people hear about all these fancy shoe brands? I didn't know shoes got this obscure and expensive. :bored:

Not sure what to make of toenails painted black... :wideyed:

Now for some manly footwear, I wear these, custom made in a small shop in San Antonio, $3200:

Well since we are talking about ridiculously expensive things. I want this...

BaneCoat.jpg

The full length lamb shearling duster. Not the tall white dude. And then combined with this...

BaneMask.jpg

And voila Halloween costume every year and I get to stay super duper warm. After all, winter is coming.

Dang...thirty two benjamins for cowboy boots. Please tell me they are as comfortable as they are expensive.
It may be because I live in Texas (when I visit other states up north people give me strange looks if I'm wearing a pair of western boots) and have grown up wearing these kinds of boots my whole life but I don't think that is all that expensive for a pair of quality custom boots that are going to last you probably your whole life. And I've got to say anytime I go out and I'm not wearing a suit I wear my ropers, they're the most comfortable style of footwear out there in my opinion.

I bought my first pair of boots recently and loved them. When I was at the store, there were some pairs approaching $1k that I absolutely loved - super comfortable, cayman belly. They were awesome. Just couldn't justify the expense, though. People make fun of me up here (Chicago) when I wear my boots, but I'm definitely going to wear them when I get back to Texas.
