Title sums it up. I gave myself 6-8 hours to study today but after all of it I did a "pure 1 hour" of anki today according to my anki tracker. I used to have an issue with time with cards in that I would spend 20-30 seconds on a card. I improved that aspect by putting a timer on myself but man it gets tough keeping up with the cards and just focusing on reviewing my cards. During the 6-8 hours of studying I got my mom a gift for her birthday, ordered food, talked to a friend, checked email.. I was wondering if anyone has tips on how I can jsut lock into my anki and not go on my web browser or get distracted.

I know this seems so simple and some people might just say "You should be able to focus". But Idk. I was hoping to see if anyone had any solutions. SDN gave me the idea to use a timer on my anki cards so I thought I'd give this forum a shot to see if anyone has tips on focusing. Thank you

Try setting up alarm on your phone -start with 5 to 10 min increments. Tell yourself that for those 5 to 10 min you will ONLY do anki . That’s it . Full focus. If you succeed - reward yourself with something . Then keep increasing this time .
Try doing anki on your phone while going for a walk - it will be easier to focus because you won’t have as many things around .
I do anki in my bathtub - same idea, nothing else around .

If possible do them first thing in the morning if not crank up the music and then do them. Otherwise I used to do them while I watch streamers (social streamers rather than gaming ones since you don't need to see what they're doing), literally any background noise or whatever will help you speed through them.

I put stuff on in the background, sometimes music, YouTube sports clips, in particular school recorded lectures. I can focus a lot when I do the last one, for sure.

So you didn’t really study for 6-8 hrs then…

There are blocker add-ones for all the web browsers. Add your social media or whatever you find yourself doing to the “black list” during your study hours.

Use the pomodoro (spelling?) method, and disconnect your computer from the internet while you’re studying. You can sync with anki web when you’re done
