I am signing up for classes in the spring and I can't decide which biology class to take that will help me in med school (I am already accepted for class of 2013). I am already signed up for biochem. Here are my options and I can only choose 1.

Parasitology
Comprehensive Vertebrate Anatomy
Comparative Animal Physiology
Human Genetics
Molecular Biotechniques
Biology of Microorganisms

Dude you're already in, just chill. My choice would be whatever class is the easiest.

Congrats on your acceptance! I would take either genetics or the micro class, but I don't think you really need either of them. They will teach you everything you need to know in med school, although I don't think it can hurt to at least be familiar with the basics!

I talked to a doc about this and he said that the biggest challange for students in the first year is usually anatomy and physiology. From personal experince I would not reccomend taking comparative. Even though its considered "better" it was utterly useless in medschool prep. If you can take Human Anatomy & Physiology that would be great. It wont be as in detail as in med school but atleast it will get you a good start.
If that isn't available Human Genetics is the way to go IMO.

I have the chance to take microbiology or neuroscience before entering medical school. I was wondering which one would be beneficial.

It's my only science class.

Bumpity bump!

Don't take a single fcking science class if you're not required to. Take some 101s in interesting subjects*. Take Spanish if you don't know any. Take sociology and have some fun debates about stuff. Take Econ so that you can be a pseudo-expert when threads about economics come up on SDN.

*Just be careful when taking classes filled with freshmen. profs tend to take attendance. You don't want to waste perfectly good drinking time sitting in class.
