hey, i got another question:

i'm thinking about what classes to take next year, and have space for one more class left. now, i don't know whether i should take a bio class to bring up my science gpa, or a german class, since i'm very fluent in german. if i take that german class and get an A (for which i barely need to study for), i'll get an award for it at the end of the year, which is something nice to put on my application.

so what do u think, bio or german?

Definetly think an A in an upper level bio course will mean much more than an A in german and an award.

I agree, and I would recommend Histology as that upper level. That award isn't going to mean anything in terms of dental school, although it's nice to have stuff on your fridge.

Unfortunately my state univ. doesn't offer histology, if that's your case, physiology I've heard is definitely a must for many of the dental schools I've researched. Also biochem would be a good class to take. I agree with the other posts in terms of the award... it's better to have that little extra knowledge (bio class) once you get to d-school and feel a bit more confident.

Without knowing your background and grades it is hard to give a good recommendation but any of the Big Five (anatomy, biochem, physiology, histology, microbiology) should be helpful. Becareful what you sign up for if you're worried about your grades, some subjects are insanely hard at some schools.

If you have a good science background already you might want to consider other courses that you're interested in. For instance my senior year I took a course called The History of Medicine and Health. I figured it would be mildly interesting when I signed up for it but it turned out to be one of the best classes I took in undergrad. Page through your class catelogue and see if there might be something you're interested in but didn't have time for before.
