I'm going to college and i want to become a dentist but i understand that you need certain classes to get accepted into dental school. I looked at about 20 different dental schools and their requirements and they all seem to have different class requirements!
I'm confused on what to do? Do i take all the classes based on ONE dental school requirements list? because that seems odd to me, sense i know that dental school is hard to get into in the first place and i may not even be accepted to that ONE dental school so I would need to apply to MANY dental schools.
But how do i apply to many if they all have different class requirements? 😕:sorry:

i would basically just like to know what classes you guys took in college before dental school !

Usually some sort of science major gets you started in the right direction. My undergrad had a pre-med/pre-dent track that helped you stay on track. The majority of dental students I know are Bio majors. But if you are organized and keep track of the required courses of the schools you want to apply to you can major in anything! My best friend is a sociology major and I was a biochem major. Completely different fields that got us to the same place. 🙂 Good luck!

As you said the requirements for most dental schools are the same. I was a biology major and my degree required me to take all the classes that were pre-reqs for most dental schools. The only extra course I had to take was statistics.

Heres a list of the relevant courses I took

General Biology I & II
General Chemistry I&II
Organic Chemistry I&II
Physics I&II
Biochemistry
Freshman Composition I&II
Genetics
Botany
Molecular Biology I&II
Histology
Immunology
Anatomy and Physiology I&II
Statistics

Some of the biology courses weren't pre-reqs but they counted toward the biological sciences requirement that most dental schools have.
