Many of you know my story, I started college as pre-med switched out and now I'm getting ready to start a DIY post bacc.

My freshman year of college (fall 2010) I took a full year of general bio and did okay- I got Bs in lab, a C, a C+, and a B- in lecture (quarter system).

I also took gen chem I this summer before deciding to finish my coursework elsewhere.

I am honestly only interested in allopathic schools so I know I won't get grade replacement but should I re-take gen bio at my new state school because it has been so long? I am wondering if I may be setting myself up for failure in genetics and upper level classes if I don't.

Maybe others will disagree, but I'd take them again. You might as well use these classes to fine-tune your study habits/skills before you reach the upper level courses. Also, more A's are more beneficial to your GPA in the long-run. It doesn't work as well as grade replacement (numerically speaking), but it does help.

Even if you aren't interested in DO schools, most schools have a time constraint as to how old the pre-requisite can be. In your case, those biology credits will be 5 years old in the c/o 2020 cycle, because it starts in June 2015.

Best of luck!
