If my university didn't offer a General Biology 2 course, would any upper level biology course fill in for it? A and P, cell, micro and immunology, all with labs of course.

A&P 1/2 cover almost everything that you learn in Bio 1/2, other than ecology, and evolution/ natural selection. However, A&P is a lot more in depth in everything except DNA, and heredity. So, theoretically each Bio course is similar, just some are more or less in depth in areas than other. Cell bio you will go way more in depth with enzymes, organic macromolecules, and cellular respiration, and a little more micro I think.

All-in-all if you are looking for a course to cover what Bio 2 offers, it's really up to you. I guess a better approach would be to ask what your major is. So, what is your major?

I've already graduated with a chem major and bio minor. I just realized that I officially didn't have a General Bio 2 and wanted to make sure I'm covered on my prereqs.

Gotcha. I honestly don't know, I'm sorry. I don't see why it wouldn't considering the Bios you took, and your chem major, and bio minor. Would seem kind of redundant if you had to go back and take another level 1 bio course.

Yeah I've been prepping for this cycle for so long I didn't even realize I might not be qualified. Seems ridiculous, but I'm not going to be a happy camper if I won't be able to apply this cycle just because I don't officially have a bio 2, even though I have a bunch of upper level bios and a minor in it.

you can apply without having bio 2 completed. however, you cannot matriculate until bio 2 is completed--you cannot start medical school until bio 2 is complete.

bio 2 at my university was mostly an introduction to zoology class and did not help me too much on the MCAT.

get into medical school. take bio 2 at a community college.

Bio 2 at my school is basically a less intensive insight to A&P. Didn't know they all weren't the same.

This is flat out wrong. DO Schools require 8 credits in biology (some 12) but they do not say which biologies. My school didn't offer gen bio 2 for pre meds, so I never took it. Never will. I'm starting in the fall. Admissions has confirmed that I have satisfied all premed requirements. In fact, AACOMAS did so as well....the biologies that I did take (not gen bio 2, since I didn't take it) counted towards the total bio credit hours.
Conclusion: you do not need bio 2, however, you need 8 credits of biology (some schools 12).

Some schools won't care and just take any two lab biology courses. Some might care. At worse you'll need to take bio two before matriculation.

I think you need to do what's best for you and the MCAT. Will you do better on the MCAT because you took gen bio II? Also contact admissions for the schools that you are interested in and make sure you are good to go if you don't have gen bio II.
