Hi, Everyone,

I know of course the higher the better, but I am actually asking whether I still have a chance for dental school or not.

I am senior with one more semester left. Current GPA=3.41 with 4Cs ( one of them, the general chemistry II is retaken so my aadasa gpa might be lower than that). The other three C comes from Biochemistry, Cell Biology, and Principles of Biology II (an insect class...). I plan to retake Biochem and Principles of Biology II next semester. If the other classes go well as well, my final retake GPA can be as high but no more than 3.58.

I know the admission committee will look at both old and new GPA. It's the same reason why I hesitate to continue pre-dental...because I still have 3 Cs in biology. However, it is still the career path I want to pursue. ...before I dive into heavy schooling and dat review=no social life, I want to know if I still have a shot...I have taken totally 5 bio classes, B-, C, B, C, C...:scared:

Will retaking 2 Biology class and do well help a bit? To show the admission committee I still have the potential to do well in biology?...

Besides GPA, I worked as a lab tech II in a research lab for 5 month during summer and have been somewhat active on extracurricular...like karate, tutoring

If say, I take the DAT in may and get a good score, will there still be a chance to get in a not top-notch but decent dental school?

my explanation may be confusing...in summary: if I retake 2 C bio class, will that help? and I definitely need a good dat score, but even with that, how much chances do I have? I know there is always a chance, but if it's as low as lottery...or so low that luck needs to be considered too...🙁

Thank you all for advices.

What does your SCI GPA and BCP come out to be?

Bio-Chem-Physics-Math GPA = 3.18
I included both old and new score for the class i retook. I didn't add statistics because I don't know if it belongs to math.

For Bio, it's a horrible B-, C, B, C-, C
For Chem, it's A, C( retake to A-), A-, A(orgo1), B+(orgoII)
For Math, it's A, A, A,
For Phys, it's B+, A
Any thought?....Bio section is so low while other sections seems ok.
I am a biomedical engineering major...I like studying for bio but I was never good at bio testings...it's more like the information just goes in one ear and flies out from the other...

Thanks.

Yea you have a chance! Why wouldn't you? Worse case scenario, just take a few extra classes after you graduate. Also, your grades are not bad at all. I am sure there are many student's who have matriculated into DS who have been in a much worse scenario than yours, which is not bad at all. Just finish the semester strong.

I was in a worse spot than you and made it in, you definitely have a shot. My overall/sci/bcp was 3.2, 2.9, 2.6. Ultimately I had to crush the DAT (23 overall, 24 sci) to prove myself, but it worked out. (And no I am not urm--dont mean to be rude about that but others on here have asked before when they see my stats)

It may take a year or so of post-bac/masters work, or a 21+ on DAT may do it, but it can be done! Best of luck!

You definitely have a shot! just make sure to ace you remaining science, and if you can take some other science electives to help boost your science GPA.

I totally agree with the adage. Thank you everyone. I will make sure I ace the DAT and the remaining semester. Good luck to myself and anyone who are in similar conditions.
