What did you do to write an outstanding case study?

Hello all. I am trying to write a case study right now, and I have no idea what I am doing. I have a draft written right now that is super clunky, but that's as far as I've gotten. I have an introduction, a history of the patient, a discussion, a conclusion, and a reference section right now.
How can I knock this out of the park and possibly get published?

What you have is a good start as far as an outline goes. Just make sure you are connected with an attending physician in the subject matter and who can guide you as to where to submit. Sometimes presenting as a poster first can help. Case reports are getting harder and harder to publish, especially for free. There are many open access journals willing to publish case studies, but they will charge a hefty penny for it. Case studies have to be extraordinary to publish in many journals.
