Biochemistry

For the following reasons:
At least at my university, a Biochemistry degree provided a more comprehensive education in BCP subject material than did a Biology or Chemistry degree.

The class load fulfilled a majority of the prerequisites for most professional and graduate schools I was considering.

Finally, the subject material of BCHEM II is awesome; I think it's a great benefit to have some additional understanding (albeit still relatively shallow) of the molecular basis of cornerstone topics like transcription/translation and replication.

Biology because it fulfilled all requirements for dental school (I decided early on that I wanted to go into medicine)...later on I added psychology minor because I enjoyed taking psychology courses

Communication

1. I thought it would be the best major to prepare me for life.
2. It taught me to speak and write effectively.
3. I enjoyed every class I took! Not only was I interested in the subject matter, but it was practical and easily applied.

Biology, because it's awesome.

Biology but I wish I could to back and major in chemistry.

B.S. Biochemistry. I enjoyed chemistry much more than biology when I first started college. I knew I wanted to go into dentistry and there were a lot of biology courses that were required. However, I am taking a much harder course load of bio/chem courses compared to biology majors. My GPA may be a little lower (especially since I go to a difficult school) but it still looks good that I was able to get decent grades.

Looking at the courses I took in high school, I decided I liked science the most. I chose Biology because it is interesting, while Chemistry is boring and Physics is horrible. I did not research into any other kind of majors (wished I did).

Physiology
It covers many Pre-dent requirements.
For me, it is really a fun major among all other science majors.
I got better chances to assist research projects as many physiology professors work for med school or integrative biology department.
I completed term paper directly under the tutelage of a professor, and he supported a very constructive LOR for me this time🙂

I think biochemistry is right for me because I also enjoy chemistry over biology.

So it seems here the most common are biology, biochem, physiology

Are these degrees useless if you don't get into a professional school (low paying careers). What was you back up plan if you don't mind telling me.

Facepalm, well it does make you stand out which I think is awesome.

Why?

Thanks a lot for all the replies everyone!!!!

Health Science (Public Health)

B/c it covered all the pre-reqs for med/dental school, and it's what I'm passionate about. I also believed, and have found it to be, more applicable to a medical career than Biology, Biochemistry, or Chemistry.

If I hadn't decided on dentistry, with a biochem degree I could go into pharmaceuticals, research, or teaching. I work in a biochem research lab and the undergrad/grad students plan on getting their Masters/Ph.D and do research.

The reason why I didn't change is that bio degree gets rid of all pre reqs at my school chem doesn't, I would have to take physics again ( different level), I would have to go to calc 3 ( bio is calc one) but I enjoy chem a lot more and my chem grades are a lot better than my bio grades.

Dentists also encourage prevention of oral diseases through proper hygiene and regular, twice yearly, checkups for professional cleaning and evaluation. Conditions in the oral cavity may be indicative of systemic diseases such as osteoporosis, diabetes, or cancer.

Nutritional Science, because honesty it changed my whole perspective on life, health and food. Never thought twice about changing it.
