So I know this is a common thread but I just need some advice.

Started college 3 years ago at my hometowns local community college. The first two years were subpar and I bull****ted through basic core classsss and finished with a 2.25 before transferring. Now, when I transferred k decided I wanted to change to pre dental. I've always kind of wanted to but I was determined to turn the ship around once I started at the university I transferred to. So, I started here this fall (2015) and I'm doing good in all my classes EXCEPT the first biology (cell and molecular) and now I've even been advised to drop it and retake it in the spring. I just don't know if my dream as a dentist is realistic now that I've all but ****ed myself. In the bio class my first to tests were 52 and 58. We have one more test and then the final, which will count twice (once and then it replaces our lowest test grade) so ideally I could study my ass off, do good on this third test and final and walk away with a C or even a B. My advisor however still thinks drop and retake. So any advice or thoughts about what I should do moving forward would be appreciated. Thanks.

The path to dental scool isn't a sprint its a marathon. It's never too late to discover a passion and work your tail off towards it. If you work hard you can do well and raise your GPA by a lot because you are only about half way through your degree. Dental schools also put a lot of weight in trends so if you start pumping now you'll have a strong track record of improving your scholastic abilities. If you MAY get a D or even a C in a class I personally would recommend you drop with a W and retake it as long as this doesn't become routine.

Best of luck and we are all here to help one another.

When is the deadline to drop? Is it before or after the third midterm? If possible, make the decision afterwards. It is fine to get a B in biology, but dental schools would ask you to explain yourself if you get a C.

Also, are you sure which letter grades correspond to those numbers you received on those tests? Is there no grading curve?

Good point. Is there not a curve? What is the class average?

The class average for the first and second tests were 64 and 63. That includes the curve. The deadline to drop is this Wednesday so it's before the third test
