So its mid October and I haven't heard a peep from any of the schools I applied to. My mail out date was mid august and my oGPA is a 3.61 sGPA: 3.54. DAT: 20AA and 20 TS. I'm trying to figure out what I should do if I do not get in to a school this cycle. Any ideas? I've thought about masters programs and what not, but would working be better or would getting another degree look better? I'm so lost because I knew this was a possibility, but I never really considered it.

You 100% screwed yourself by applying in mid-August. Way too late for processing of all materials into university portals.

You have a small chance getting interviews unless they schedule you for post-December, where admission numbers are staggeringly low against the field. Try your luck next cycle and apply the day AADSAS opens.

So i submitted in early july, but it took a while for a few letters to come in. Do you still feel that it affects my chances?

Yes. You lost all chance for interviews because all of your application materials weren't in. Submission early means nothing if transcripts, letters, and grades aren't verified early.

Try again next year.

I applied in mid/late August and I've heard from 1/3 of the schools I applied too, and I saw your stats are pretty descent and similar to mine. I saw no reason why you are giving up right now, and applying late shouldn't put us in too many disadvantages. May I ask how many and what schools you applied to?

I had a similar timeline as you as well as similar stats and I've interviewed at 2 schools already, so I wouldn't think so...

A mail out of mid-August is not late, and to say that it is *too* late is ludicrous. If for whatever reason you don't get in this cycle, I wouldn't do a master's. Re-take the DAT and try to have everything submitted a bit earlier.

However, your GPA is good and your DAT is plenty to get some interviews - so unless you only applied to a small handful of selective schools or have especially weak ECs I wouldn't worry too much. I would feel pretty good as an applicant with your stats. We have a long way to go, so let it play out a bit longer and i'm sure that you will have some good options down the road!

Your stats are identical to mine except a 0.1 higher gpa in both areas. Same mail out date also. I've only had one interview invite from my in state school, but nothing from anyone else. However when I checked a week ago with LECOM, the lady said they still hadn't gotten around to reviewing mine, so I wouldn't say they've rejected you just yet! Maybe.

OP,

I think you have a chance. It could take some time, and you may well have post-dec interviews, but I think you do have a shot. Consider sending a letter of interest to your top choices. I know several people who got an interview to a school after bringing their file to the attention of the Dean of Admissions.

You 100% screwed yourself
You lost all chance for interviews

BRUTAL.

I don't know what the above user is talking about. You did not 100% screw yourself over, nor did you lose all chances for an interview. That's absurd. A mail-out date of mid-August is fine. It's not ideal, but you're fine. There are people in a similar boat as you, including me, who have gotten interviews with a mail-out date in August. In fact, my latest mail-out date was 9/2. I only have one interview so far with a lower GPA than you, but you and I both have chances to hear back for post-December slots. Don't fret just yet!

I had a similar situation where I applied in July but due to grade changes and LOR's, my mail out date was also in August. Though I didn't receive pre-December interviews I received a good amount of post-December interviews. If you have competitive stats, then you are still a viable applicant.

Although it may be smart to think and plan ahead for the next cycle, don't count yourself out of the running yet!

Lmao. Alright well... to those who read this post and freak out: I got my app complete 9/21. I have two interviews so far. So actually it's not too late and don't let posts like this scare you. Take SDN with grains of salt ... not just a grain anymore. You'll hear peepS soon. (Plural)

While you are kinda late your stats are decent and will warrant an interview at some point. I don't know if you'll get pre december at this point in time though 🙁(

your stats are decent! I'm pretty sure you will get some interviews. There are a lot of applicants that get accepted from post-dec interviews so I wouldn't worry too much just now. You can start worrying if you don't get interviews by January! I've seen an applicant from last year's thread where s/he had 0 pre-dec but 8 post-dec interviews!!! 🙂

I applied in the 2013-2014 cycle, so this may be a little out of touch with this cycle's information, but here's what my //exact// timeline was.

My application went out on August 17th, supplemental applications were completed within the week.
9/17 - offer for interview University of Pittsburgh received (Interview 10/7)
10/2 - offer for interview University of Florida received (Interview 10/29)
10/22 - offer for interview University of Minnesota received (Interview 11/13)
11/14 - offer for interview University of Pennsylvania received (Interview sometime in the first week and a half of January)

You have plenty of time remaining. Deep breaths and try to relax. Schools aren't even done sending out interview slots for early November yet.
