just wondering what a canadian caribbean medical student (i know, you all can stop laughing now) needs to be eligible to apply for the sf-match in ophtho... of course i have step 1 tucked away and completed; but what about finishing all the "typical" 3rd year core rotations (ob-gyn, peds)? in order for me to make the deadline with an elective in ophtho i needed to postpone them. can you apply with just step 1 scores? or do you need 2 as well? appreciate any and all help.

good luck to all those interviewing this season,

does it have to be transitional or internal medicine? can one complete a year of prelim/categorical surgery and have that qualify?

you just have to pass step one as far as i know, you can do prelim med, transition, surgery, fp categorical first year that cant fill

No problem doing a surgery prelim. Just be sure to get your head examined right after you make that decision.
