I need to take the lecture portion of Gen Chem and Orgo only. I did great in the lab sections when I was in college. What do you all think about taking courses online?

If it is possible to take the class online, you should do it only if you can learn the material independently and can manage to get the homework and watch the lectures in a timely manner.
Taking a class online is nice but at the same time if you tend to get behind then you will have a hard time catching up.

That is true about catching up. But you know, maybe it requires more discipline to stay on top of the work if you have to do it independently? I don't know. I think I'll try looking up some classes...

Not all medical schools will accept online credits, especially if they are pre-med courses. I would urge you to contact the schools you are interested in applying to directly to see if this is indeed the case for those perticular schools.

I have taken a A&P (PLUS labs) via online courses. The labs were done via an interactive CD-ROM program. These courses were from REAL colleges that offered online clases, not like U of Pheonix or Walden University (which are online universities). The funny thing is that this same class is also offered on campus at the college, and the people who take it online have no different a transcript than those who took it on campus. AACOMAS and med schools accepted these classes just fine.
You should check out the SUNY Learning network (do a Google search). It lists all New York State REAL colleges/universities that offer online classes (meaning although you take the class online, your transcript will list it as a regular class taken on the campus). They offer tons of natural science classes. However, I would not recommend taking your science pre-reqs online, since you just will not really learn as much as if you took it in a classroom, in my opinion.

I think you are right that courses like A&P, or microbio might be okay online, but it's just interesting since some schools do provide a Gen Chem class online, and cover the same information as the on-campus course. However, I live in a suburb of Chicago, and they have a similar website for all IL colleges and universities--it's called Illinois Virtual University or campus (I think you can find it through google, then you can look up specific course areas).
