What do you think of this course load?

gen biology II
statistics
human anatomy

Is this an unusual course load? I'm not sure wether I should take the anatomy or not, it is just for interest...

It's not too bad I don't think, though it probably depends on where you go to school. If you feel you are up to it, and are interested in the courses, go ahead. If you're doing it to try and impress people/adcoms, think again. G-luck.

I had a similar schedule one semester. I ended up taking:
Organic II
Physics II
Developmental Biology
Molecular Genetics

I only had four courses, but playing a sport made it one of my harder semesters in school. I think that your proposed schedule is reasonable. Just be careful that you don't take so many classes that you do poorly in courses that you could do well in otherwise. If anatomy is not a requirement for graduation (it usually isn't for admission to med school) you may think about dropping it. Or you could wait and take anatomy later when (if) you have a semester with an easier course load (senior year). Good luck with your semester and your application.

Organic and gen bio are gonna take up a ton of time. Organic especially. If I were you I'd wait to take anatomy. Just spread things out a little, you'll be happier in the end and will probably do better.

Thanks.•••••Hmm, I dunno. Looks a bit on the light side to me. I'd throw in a couple of upper level math classes and a few labs as well just to make things interesting. Don't want adcoms to thing you're slacking or anything. :wink:

Okay, this is my personal opinion. What is important to get into med school is that you have good grades. Dont jeaopardize that by overloading on these sciences. I personally think that 0-chem and one other challenging science course is enough. But four is definitely too many. Statistics should be easy so that is fine. Lighten up on one of thouse courses if you are a strong science person. If you are not as stong take o-chem, bio, stats and maybe 1 or 2 other liberal arts course. I think this is a good courseload.

I agree with the too much crowd. I think grades are very important (speaking from the other side of the fence - my grades were terrible). Personally, I'd drop the PChem (depending on your major, etc) and keep the anatomy. However, that's just my personal interest area. I do think that it's a bit much. Give yourself the best chance you can do to well. Good luck!

I agree that you might want to go with a little lighter load. If it ends up being too much and you have to drop a course or two, schools may frown upon the withdrawals. When I was in undergrad, I took organic and qualitative analysis along with a couple of required humanities courses.

Bad Idea!
It may seem logical but taking such a course load is unwise.
You are still a sophomore- classes such as Physical chem(junior or senior) and anatomy(junior) can wait- and when you take them -the value of an "A" is still an "A" independent of when you took the class.
Remember ADCOMS are looking for well rounded individuals and your class and grade sheet should reflect eventhough you are a science major or not.

Insert non-science class here
Insert non-science class here

Too much science may be overwhelmiing
Eventhough you are able to ace every single class- You lose points on a well rounded college education!
