Chances of getting in standard MD school? And what direction should I take now?

3.76 GPA at Michigan State Univ. Chem BA
3.70 GPA at community college first 2 years
extras:
White Male 21 Yr
Research 1 project in the previous summer.
Worked on a another project over the year at MSU.
110 Hospital Hours total volunteering
no shadow
Volunteered 2 weeks in Belize for two weeks over last winter break.
Black Belt in Tae Kwon do
Certified Scuba diver
Worked first 2 years 25 hours a week with full schedule
been working consistently since age 14
Lab Aide in Chemistry dept.
Applied early Sept.

Chances for applicants to AMCAS schools with your cGPA and MCAT score in the last 3 years was about 60% for an acceptance. Applying this late in the cycle decreases the odds. I suggest getting the shadowing in so you can mention it in update letters. Some regular hands-on, nonmedical community service would be nice to see, as well.

Yea I need to shadow and I plan on doing that this coming winter break, I am a senior btw. I did include to them an experience which was unofficial volunteering and even get a LOR out of the mom. I spent hundreds of hours over 2 years watching a 5 year old because his dad is a druggy, the mom is a benzo-head, but that is besides the point. Would this be a pseudo-volunteer act? does it even help?

Did you get paid? Was the child a relative or are the parents friends of your family?

No pay, was my neighbor.

Then I think it can pass for volunteerism, though it was not a community service.

I think you'll be successful after some shadowing and volunteer work. Was your hospital time over a long period of time or did you ram those 110 hours in 2 months?
