So I am in the process of curing cancer, should I put this as an extra curricular activity?

I also single handedly performed open heart surgery, should I include this?

Oh, I also got a letter from President Obama, do you think this will be ok with the schools?

I also killed a man 4 years ago as a Freshman and I'm currently wanted for murder...do you think I should include this in the application or wait for them to find out?

I also have a 3.95/ 27AA so I'm wondering if my chances are good anywhere.

Any advice would be great.

Seriously? Don't you have better things to do? I don't understand why people make "ironic" posts like this

Wow, those things are better than when I put that I traveled to all 50 states in one summer! lol 😀

Well people make "sarcastic" posts because they dont seem too far off from some of the nonsense that is legitimately posted.

Irony

Lol i know how you feel op. Some of the questions are like taken way out of context and over analyzed. Half of today's threads are filled with them.

1) don't put anything about the cancer research... unless you cure every cancer known to man (and animal kingdom)

2) avoid the open heart surgery talk.... they might think you wanna be an MD instead of DDS

3) What was obama's letter about? if college basketball / NBA, avoid mentioning it. If healthcare reform (lolz) ~ enough said. If anything else, sure you can mention it

4) Don't talk about killing people... thats in the past, just say "you had an encounter and someone died, and it was kinda your fault"

5) your chances are good-to-very-good

You'll need >4.15 and >29 AA, 30 PAT. Don't waste your money this year, just take some more post-bacc classes and get ready for next year's application. It also sounds like you'll need some better letters of recommendation.

I respectfully disagree !

Forget post-bacc, he needs a PhD.

Don't forget to call the school and tell them when your going to be in town and would prefer your interview then...works everytime! 👍 Good Luck!

Hahahaha.

Also, maybe going out of the country from Sept-Dec 1 will increase your chances.

Lawl.

I expected something like this when I saw your name under the thread subject.

More than a few times I've had to erase a post right before I make a sarcastic response to a silly question.

edit: but usually I post it anyways

"Hey all,

I'm an MS-4 at Johns Mayo-San Francisco of Harvard atop Mount Sinai. I scored a 295 on Step 1, was appointed Grand Poobah of AΩA as an MS-2, and earned Ultra Honors on all Clinical Rotations. I have 57 total publications in Nature and Science, in 62 of which I am first author. Last summer I went on a trip to Southeast Zanzibar where I showed the natives how to build a Level 1 trauma center out of coconuts and spam cannisters. I have LoRs from 2 attendings, my Dean (who wrote I'm currently smarter and a better clinician than him), and every living Surgeon General since 1956. My senior class voted me most likely to defeat the Hun. I'm totally freaking out because I think one of the Prelims who was on my last service didn't shake my hand sufficiently firmly after our last shift. Do you guys think this may affect my chances of matching into Dermatologic Radiosurgery?"

when the interviews come (and they will) make sure to bring wax-UPS that you did at a sim course. They love to see how great you are with your hands, or tell the you drive stick!

I personally wouldn't apply until I actually cured cancer. You won't find the time to find the cure once you're in Dental School. Best of luck.
