Please don't respond to this if you are just speculating/theorizing. Only respond if you know something about the topic (or *think* you know something). 😉
I am wondering if the schools can tell from my ID # that I have been applying for several years now, and whether such knowledge may be harmful to my application?
To give you a little background, my app for 2006 entering class will be the 4th one. I was pretty dumb about my application the first 2 times in particular so I don't think the fact I am still applying means my application is not viable, but still I have to wonder if the schools might look at my [OLD] ID #, assume I've been passed over many times by many schools, and assume that must mean there is something inherently "wrong" with me & that they should not even bother!
Additional background:
app for 2003 entering class: submitted Oct 15 to AMCAS, applied to 1 school only. Result: Instant Rejection.
app for 2004 entering class: submitted late Aug to AMCAS, applied to 3 schools only, M.D./Ph.D. prog at each. Result: 1 secondary, interviewed at that school, rejected.
app for 2005 entering class: sumbitted early Aug to AMCAS, applied to 14 schools, M.D./Ph.D. prog at each. Results: 13 secondaries (I returned 12 of them), 2 interviews, currently waitlisted at those 2 schools (ANY GOOD KARMA / HAPPY THOUGHTS / GOOD VIBES THAT YOU CAN SEND IN MY DIRECTION FOR THOSE 2 SCHOOLS GREATLY APPRECIATED...)
Also, does anyone know how/when/where my AAMC first originated? When starting up the 2006 app the site said something about if I've ever taken the MCAT, applied before, etc. I already have an I.D., so maybe I have had the I.D. since I took the MCAT & it doesn't reveal anything about when I first applied? (Also, I guess even if it shows when I first applied, they don't know that I've applied every year, right? I could have been busy beefing up my application rather than reapplying...)
If my AAMC ID # is a detriment to my application, is there any way to get a new one? (I'm guessing not since you are asked for your SSN when starting up the AMCAS app, the system will "find" me no matter what, won't it?) If I were to have a new ID obviously my AMCAS app would not be pre-populated with last year's responses (a big time-saver) but if it were really to make a difference I wouldn't mind re-entering everything by hand.
OK, thanks in advance for your help!
