I'm curious to see what other non-trad schedules will look like for the coming semester. What classes are you taking? How many hours are you working, volunteering, etc? Studying for the MCAT? I just finalized my my schedule, and it looks something like this:

Classes: gen chem/biochem + lab [5 credits]
Work: 40 hours in IT

It's a weekly, three-hour lab, so I'll be working and going to class from 9am-9:45pm once a week...not looking forward to that :hungover:

I'm only taking five credits this semester, but I graduated a few years ago and have been dealing with some personal issues. I didn't want to overload my schedule and set myself up for failure, so this is somewhat of a trial run. I hope to start volunteering and shadowing next (Spring '18) semester. Good luck to everyone :bookworm:

Congrats on making the trial run! '09 graduate here, about a year into my nontrad journey with the plan to apply next cycle. I'm working to recover from a low GPA from my undergrad years (currently 3.16c/3.01s and rising). I've taken one course at a time this past spring (physiology) and this summer (genetics) to dip my toe into school again, but I quit my tech job in April and am now charging at this full time. I sit for the MCAT in 2.5 weeks and am really hoping to only have to do it once, because I'm loading up my plate with other things right now.

Classes (12 credits): Immunology, Hematology, Microbiology, Infectious Disease
Volunteering (20-24 hours/week): Rheumatology research, hospital volunteering

I'm planning to take a similar load next spring, by which point I'll have a better sense of whether I can sprinkle in some part-time work in the medical field (considering ED tech or scribe roles).

Good luck! Here's to a great semester!

Classes:
17 units (quarter system)

Ochem 1 + Lab (4 units)
Physics 1 + Lab (5 units)
Ecology and Evolution (4 units)
Linguistics (requirement for my Anthropology deg.) (4 units)

Clinical Research Volunteer: 4-8 hours a week
ED Scribe: ~16-24 hours a week

Really excited to start Fall semester. Summer has been busy with classes/work/etc but I want to finish up my last year of undergrad!

Very excited for fall semester to start, the last of my pre-reqs! But also is it's a 40min commute one way to classes and this summer I've been making that drive 4 days a week. I'm not used to commutes and it's killing me! I only have a 20minute drive to work (I'm spoiled) so this long commute stuff is foreign to me!

Fall Classes (12 semester hours):
Organic 2 + Lab
Psych
Histology and Lab

Work: 20hr/week (my non-medical, engineering work that pays the bills and benefits)
Clinical volunteering: 4hr/week in the ED
Non-clinicial volunteering: about 8 hours a month with the local Habitat
Shadowing: Should start this fall as well. Was supposed to start this summer but hectic schedules got in the way
MCAT prep: maybe start a little towards the end of the fall, but that will be the primary focus of Spring with only p/t work and no classes.

Great thread! Ill play

Biochem 3 credits
Physics 2 4 credits
Biological Basis of Behavior 3 credits
Cognition 3 credits
Total= 13 credits

ED Tech 24-36 hours (I pick up the extra 12 hr shift as much as possible)
5-10 Hours per month tutoring at a "for needs" school
Cannot wait to start MCAT prep in the spring!
