Yes to both question.

They verify what you entered matches your official transcripts that are sent in.

They'll make corrections if you goofed somewhere or their are differences in how you entered it and how it appears.

for example I entered my biochem class as MCB XXX. they changed to MCBXXX.

If their are too many errors, supposedly they'll unlock your app and make you fix them.

I doubt they hand calculate your GPA unless there is some error you point out to them that requires they double check, their system will do it for them.

basically, they are checking the grades you type'd up vs whats REALLY available on official transcripts (and it makes sense, otherwise, everyone would have 4.0 GPAs)
