Right now I am shadowing a dentist and am a volunteer teacher on Sundays for SAT/ACT prep

there is a pre-dent club at my univ. but their meetings have always been at times when i have classes so I couldn't join that club my freshman and sophomore year.

I am planning on doing some research this fall

my family has a business and I work there everyday so thats my Job

so in conclusion i do the following:

- shadowing
- volunteer teacher for SAT/ACT
- i work at my family business
- planning to do research

What else should i be doing that would make me a good applicant ?

You are doing great, just keep going. With some research and maybe some volunteering here and there or getting involved with a group that does a lot of volunteering, you'll be set. It's not necessarily the quanitity of extracurriculars you have done but the quality and a lot of adcoms see right through "fluff" on your resume so I always say get involved with a few good projects and just give it your all instead of dabbling in a whole bunch of things and spreading yourself thin. So far you're doing great, I wouldn't be concerned.

thnx for reply

on the AADSAS application, other than volunteering, do they ask if i have any previous work experience

like at my family business, it is a small grocery store so i cashier and stock shelves and also 2 years ago (before we closed down) I waitered at my family restaurant for like 3 years

since i work , i am really picky in what organizations i should join because of any time conflicts, do the dental school care about work experience or do they only care about extra curricular activities ?

Yes there is a section for work. From meetings I have went to yes they also look at if you are working and can't volunteer. It is not easy going to school and working and then finding time to volunteer.

Do whatever you find that interests you, regardless of its immediate perceived "impressiveness" to dental schools. Seriously.
The last thing you want is to graduate college and realize that you spent all your time trying to become a cookie-cutter pre-dent as opposed to truly enjoying yourself.

Ahh yes, the epic battle club where we go out in public and beat each other up with styrofoam swords. I'm probably not gonna say I was part of that just to be safe 😀

You are totally fine! Just get a good LOR from a dentist before you apply. If your grades are up to par i wouldn't worry!
