Anyone know what's going down at CCOM? I heard that the M4's were having issues regarding graduation arrangements. Now I hear that the Dean has stepped down. Anyone know who's taking over and why the current Dean left and where he is going?

I really haven't heard anything to the effect of any of that. I looked on their website, but it doesn't appear that it is updated with news regularly. I posted a message to the same effect as yours in the pre-osteo. forum on a thread called "CCOM Class of 2006". You might check there within the next couple of days to see if anyone has anything to share. I find this very interesting since I am supposed to be starting there in August. A change iin the dean could change things a little bit. Anyway just thought I would let you know to look at that particular thread for more info. Hopefully I helped. Joshua

I will be an MS II this fall and I saw the e-mail about the dean leaving. Word has it that he didn't get along with the CEO of our school so she was planning on letting him go but he decided to leave instead. As far as specifics to what it was about, no one really knows, just speculation.. Otherwise as far as graduation requirements I haven't heard of any problems. The only problems that has happenned is the clinical med. department just installed a new computer system that does the rotation matchings for the 3rd and 4th years and apparently it didn't work too well. Many of the 3rd years weren't even assigned to any rotations at all! Supposedly it's to be fixed, let's hope. I sure don't want to get screwed on the most important part of my education. Hope this helps!

Nabiel.

Yes, you still will be able to select where you'd like to do some rotations but I'm not to versed in how that works with the new system.

Well I'm one of the victims of this new system. It works okay. Clinical Ed. did a great job of going back and correcting any deficits and errors. It lets you choose your 1st 2nd and 3rd choices for each rotation and then "spins" them. It tries to get you your picks but as you can see it's buggy. Downside is that you don't get to pick when you do your preferred rotation and it doesn't allow you to pick what rotation you do get your choice. Thus if you really wanted a particular surgery site, you may be out of luck as it gives you your #1 choice in FP instead. Personally, I wish they'd can the whole damn thing or else let us make 1 or 2 major requests, fill in preferences for the others and "spin" those choices. <img border="0" alt="[Wowie]" title="" src="graemlins/wowie.gif" />

Do they use this system for the 4th year also, or are you allowed to go wherever you want (except for the few things you have to do at their core sites)??
