What happens if I do not use my schools preapplication forum?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You have to complete and submit the AADSAS application which the majority of dental schools use since it's the standardized dental school application process. I don't know exactly what you mean by your school's pre-application process, unless you're talking about a committee letter for your letters of recommendation.

I know someone on one of these committees (a professor), and they say it doesn't look good to go around the committee and apply on your own. I don't know how bad it looks, however.

I know my one friend out of pure ignorance did not even know our school had a committee. They applied late (to med school!) on their own, without any resume or personal statement ready and with only a letter of rec or 2. If they had applied to committee they would have had all this stuff and more ready by May, not by November.

Apply to your school's "committee" or "preapplication". It will help you.
