Does that count against you...and will medical schools be able to see this? Problem is, I missed the deadline to change the test date. So I am thinking of just missing the scheduled exam and then registering for a different test date. Will they give me a 0 on my MCAT or will medical schools be able to see that I missed my exam? 😱

no one will ever know. I did it in May and called up AAMC just to make sure and they assured me it will not show up anywhere, it's as if you never signed up for the test at all (except that they get to keep your 200 dollars lol). Hope this helped!

Yes, as jackson1 pointed out, your test is automatically voided. Unless you have an evil twin hidden in the populace waiting for this moment to purposefully bomb the MCAT in your name.

It's the same as if you showed up, took it, and voided it. So why not take the chance to get used to the testing environment and just take and void it?

Not showing up does count as one of your allowed 3 tests for the year. Just thought I'd throw that in. I called and asked a month ago. But it's the same as voiding.

wouldn't it suck if you actually did what LikeClockWork said and ended up with 35+ but you voided it so it won't count? I wonder if something like that happens.

It can't really happen that way since you will never know what your score was on a voided exam. The AAMC does not factor voided exams into the curve, and they are not given a scaled score.

When you void an exam its as if you never signed up for it in the first place.

I think the joke was more that you killed the MCAT but still voided.

That being said, I think you would know if you were in the midst of pulling off a 35+ score on the MCAT. Regardless of the uncertainty of some questions, you should be able to tell the difference between large jumps in score.

Getting 8s across the board gets you a 24 which is an average-ish score. Jumping up to say 30 requires you to get either all 10s or a combination of others, which puts you into the category of doing extremely well. Getting a 35 requires at least one score of 12+ which again, would indicate that you were extremely strong in a few sections. You wouldn't be hitting void if you came out of the exam like that.

I was just talking with someone down at AAMC and they said that not showing up to your exam does NOT count against you as one of the 3 exam you can take in a year. True? 😕

Do you mean to imply that you would trust our opinion over what someone from the AAMC itself told you? 😕

Just making sure it isn't something small that I'm missing . . . . If we are past the date to cancel or reschedule, we have to wait until the actual test date has passed to sign up for another date, right? Stupid system!!!

That's right, you can sign up for a new test 48 hours after your test was supposed to be. For me, I was supposed to take the test May 23rd on a Friday and it let me sign up for a new one Sunday morning.

Thank you.

I am willing myself to accept it as a sign that I am supposed to take the July 18th exam.

Did you have someone make sure for you that there are openings in your area for the July 18th exam? I would hate for you to skip the test tomorrow then find out you can't take it til august.

No, I'm actually registered for the July 18th one. Sorry, if I garbled that in my last post. I wanted to reschedule for some time in August. Having a bad study day. . . : ( Hoping it looks better tomorrow.

ohh got it! good luck in august!!

Take the exam and void it. It's excellent practice.

Hmm. What if you put on your primary app that you planned to retake the MCAT on a certain date and decide to void this one for a later date? How is tha handled or looked upon by med schools?

Hello to all,

I am re-taking the MCAT on July 18th. My practice scores are fluctuating a lot..for AAMC's 3,4,5,6,7,8 >> 26,29,24,27,25,27 respectively.

I know it is too late to re-schedule the test...but has anybody hit a 30 on the real thing even if u had a lower AAMC prac scores ?

I don't get a verbal above 8 ( I am not a native English speaker). Is this an acceptable score for med schools?

Plz guide me! I would be really grateful to all of you! Thank you!
