I know this is way to early to be thinking about as I'm only a Freshman but it's just depressing the heck out of me. I just want to get into dental school but can't get the thought out of my head. I'm doing well so far, got a 3.8 with gen chem 1 and intro bio done already, but as I'm getting into tougher classes I'm seeing just how tough it is to do well and that scares me. I know I have the capability to succeed but if I don't get in what am I supposed to do...

There's no reason to worry about this so early in the game. STUDY HARD but dont go crazy and most importantly enjoy your time in college, meet some ppl and make progess each semester or quarter towards DS

Become a hobo and ask people for change as you ramble on about your failures as a pre-dent. Approach people with a rusty fork you found on the side of the street and tell them "open wide it will only hurt for a second!"
Or just reapply next year.

You have a 3.8 and you're depressed? 🙄

lots of people get in with much lower stats, you have nothing to worry about. Start building up you EC's.

My GPA was lower freshman year than yours' and I was still happy with it. A 3.8 is fantastic - especially with some of those intro sciences people can struggle with (I know I struggled with gen chem!) But as you take more advanced science classes, you see things start to overlap and you can apply knowledge from one course to another. You are FINE, do not even worry! (Save that for the year you apply!) Keep up the good work.

Major in something that will get you a job just in case you don't get in.

You reapply and it doesn't work out you move on. I'm freshman just like you, but I already came up with "back-up" plan. I really don't like it, but I could see myself doing it if things didn't work out. The main goal of having back-up plan is to make you feel comfortable and allow you to be yourself without that nasty "GET INTO DENTAL SCHOOL" pressure.

You're honestly fine. I got into dental school with a 3.0, granted though I had toooooonnnsssssss of service/shadowing hours under my belt. The easiest way of getting into dental school is to have a spectacular GPA and don't forget to prepare for the DAT. But, there is always those of us that get into those service oriented schools with a fancy resume. Then theres always the plan of doing a Masters program if you're really not doing well. But you're already ahead of the game. My freshman year, applying to dental school was the farthest thing from my mind.

I know I'm doing fine right now, but it's just really stressing me out. I feel like I have to get nearly all A's in my science courses and that's extremely overwhelming. Getting B's isn't hard but then that kills your GPA. I just need to take it one step at a time rather then focusing on things that don't matter right now I guess.
