What if you fail an elective?

The title says it: what if you fail something that's not a graduation requirement, AFTER submitting ERAS? Does it affect your matching potential? Also, would your home program be able to see it?
 
I think this would be hard to do and should not happen to a vast majority of people. Failing would mean showing up less than the bare minimum set forth in the syllabus, or repeatedly refusing to complete assignments mandated by the course director. Don't do these things. Idk if you're home program would see it, probably they wouldn't care as long as you got an MD by July 1st.
