It...got...worse

My sister, while no longer in immediate danger, needs attention. My father, who I have deeper issues with that I won't get into here, I need to be with. I am taking 26 credit hours. I am getting C's or worse in all classes, including 2 basic bios and orgo 1. On top of that, I am a D1 athlete on a full tuition athletic scholarship and put in extra hours of work outside of practice--everyone on the team knows I work the hardest--yet I've been performing poorly with so much on my mind. Nowhere near poorly enough to lose my scholarship, but definitely beneath my ability level. I also have a part-time online job that I am doing the minimum amount of work for to keep my position, serve as a committee chair for undergrad student government, am a mentor for a peer mentor program, cook my own meals, and am on a weight-loss diet.

On Tuesday, I cracked like I never have. I was taking orgo midterm #2 (got 33% on the first one), and despite going in to prof's office hours twice a week in prep for the exam, my mind just shut down. I went totally blank looking at predict the products problems and left entire pages blank. Couldn't have done better than 40%.

Do I do a term withdrawal from the university?

Tomorrow is the deadline for 40% tuition refund (afterward is no refund). No idea how it will affect my scholarship and $7,500 unsubsidized loan from FAFSA. No idea how it will affect athletic eligibility (i NEED to play next semester, my team and coach are counting on me).

I've been trying to get an appointment with our counselor, who I haven't been able to get a hold of yet. I'm a dual-degree student enrolled in both business and LAS colleges. LAS advisor told me to go to business advisor. Business advisor unavailable until next week. 40% of tuition is pretty big, especially if I lose my scholarship this semester, so I really need to know something by tomorrow.

EDIT: Secondary questions--not as urgent, but very important

Should I forget medical school? Should I forget top-tier medical schools? If I'm still doing medicine, I'm dropping my business degree to focus on Biochem. I'm only in my second year of college but have enough credits to be a senior. 15 hours straight A's last fall, 24 hours of 3 B's in business classes and B in chem 1, A's everything else, 18 hours over summer--A in IR, C in econ, C in business, C in physics 2, C in chem 2. I was advised to try for retroactive withdrawal in my previous thread--what if I just retake all of those classes I got C's in next sem w/GPA recalculation?

and I REALLY want to get out in 3 years--is that completely unfeasible at this point? Will start research, shadowing, and clinical volunteer next sem. Have been doing non-clinical volunteer through non-profit org that I founded this summer and raised over $700 for.

if you've found out that you can't do EVERYTHING, prioritize and decide what is most important to you and rock it

Agree with above. There are just too many things going on in your life right now. It sounds like you should definitely drop orgo.

Sports, dual degree, finish in 3 years, pre-med, family/personal stressors... Somethings gotta give. Why the rush to finish in 3 years? So you finish residency at 30 instead of 31? It's honorable to be there for your team next semeter, but is it worth a mental breakdown?

You should take any advice on a online forum with a grain of salt, but you've gotta scale it back some. 26 hours? Is that even possible? I was biomedical engineering and never broke 20. There is no advantage to a dual major if you get all Fs, and have to be admitted to inpatient psych.

Pick whats really important to you. Sports, one other EC, and IMO, one major. Or if you have to have both majors, take 4 years to finish.

You need to pester your advisor(s) until they see you. And get in to see a counselor - seriously, it will help.

Good luck

Why do you want to finish college in 3 years?

Most DI NCAA athletes spend 4 years or more in college to use all of their athletic elegibility.

If I was you, I will redshirt next season, get your act together (family and academics), and get ready to rock your sport next year. Spend 5 years in college. Thats how I'm doing it right now. It wouldn't affect your application.

PS. I didn't read the link you posted. If hope you didn't answer my question in there.
