what is a good percentage to make on kaplan sectional tests?

for PS, VR and BS I have been ranging from 60-70%, getting a 80% and 75% once in verbal... is that pretty good for kaplan? those materials seem a lot harder than aamc I get discouraged at times looking at those low percentages haha

You may not like this answer, but your real mcat will probably be more convoluted (harder) than the AAMCs. Thus, I thought the Kaplan Section Tests were great practice. Look at AAMC 10's raw score vs. Scaled score table; this should be a good guide for an approximate scaled score on the section tests.

I'd say shoot for >70% in all sections.

would you say kaplan section test passages = hard difficulty passages on the real mcat? kaplan sure seems pretty hard compared with aamc lol

I think the difficulty of the Kaplan passages is compensated for by their generous curve. I'm about to start the VR sectionals and I know that TPRH and BR come next for useful verbal practice. However, I've read negative reviews about Kaplan's VR on their FL and would like to know if their VR sectionals are better examples of verbal practice, aside with EK101.

kaplan VR sectionals are pretty hard... but they are very good practice. Before I started on kaplan VR sectionals I made 24/40 on aamc 3; after about 5-6 kaplan sectionals with score ranging from 55-80%, my aamc VR jumped to 31,32/40 so doing them definitely works... now I am hoping I can get the same results with the two science sections haha

Trust me, you will not be as surprised when faced with longer passages and more calculations on the real deal than others who did not do them.
