What is a Pre-Interview Hold and how do I know if I'm on it?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You will literally get an email stating "we have placed your application on hold." Basically a pre-II hold is them saying we don't want to interview you yet but we don't want to reject you yet so we are going to put you to the side until we see more applications and where you stand.

I was on hold at Rowan until the end of the semester so they could see my updated transcripts. I never turned them in, but they sent me like 5 e-mails about doing it. I was also placed on an interview wait list from NSU.

Pre-interview hold is pretty much a rejection that hasn't officially happened yet.

That being said, there have been cases at certain osteopathic schools, especially last cycle, where the school accidently sent "interview hold" emails to applicants when they intended to send an interview invite email. You may want to confirm.

Ding Ding we have a winner.

I had a pre-interview hold from Marian on one of my previous cycles for a month. They looked at more applications before they interviewed me. I have also been on other pre-interview holds for other schools such as ATSU-KCOM, but in that case they wanted a application boost before interviewing (ex. like a major MCAT increase). So different strokes for different folk, but the above quote nailed the definition.
