Hi
what is is alpha epsilon delta premed club?

How prestiguous it is to be a member of such a club?

How is important to be a member for medical school admissions?

Thanks

Anyone in my university that received a 3.4 (Dean's list) or higher was inducted. Its a freshmen honors society. I don't think its a particularly active organization.

At my university, anyone with a 3.2 gpa can be inducted. You need at least 60 credit hours though so its for mostly upperclassmen. I don't think it stands out at all on a med school app just b/c the requirements are so low. It's definitely not up there with Phi Beta Kappa or Omicron Delta Kappa; but our chapter gave us some nice opportunities to talk to physicians & current med students so it was cool, but not very prestigious.

It depends on the particular chapter.......my school's chapter wins organization of the year every year for an insane amount of volunteering.

We need a 3.5 and have to at least be a sophomore to be inducted. Plus to run for any officer positions in the pre-health club you need to be in AED, and most hospital volunteering and shadowing opportunities set up through our school go to AED members.

At my school, AED is one of multiple pre-med clubs. You don't have to be a member (paying dues, etc) to be on the mailing list or go to meetings, but if you are a member you get priority on signing up for things. They occasionally update you on opportunities. Overall, not that important or prestigious of a club.
