What is AOA?

Can someone clearly explain what AOA is and how someone gets to be AOA including when they are considered, invited? Do you have to apply? What factors are taken into account? I see pepole refer to this all the time and I think I know a little but I don't see the whole picture. Thanks.

AOA is the PBK of medical school. Do a search on it, your question has be addressed in several previous threads.
