For example, say you get in in Dec of this year then grades come in and there is a B- on your transcript for one of the prerequisite courses?

C+, C...etc?

Do the offer letters and/or acceptance confirmation packages typically put final acceptance contingencies on achieving certain minimum grades?

I am a post bach with a Masters who returned to these undergrad trenches of endless tomfoolery with the intent to help people with their medical problems. Basically I was already tired of the typical undergrad academic rigamarole before I restarted: I am hopeful I will get an acceptance the first week of Dec and I am more tired of the undergrad rigamarole than ever. Going on the 3rd and final year of this pre-dent curriculum.

Honestly: I am tired of the whole litany of silly little rules and flaming hoops which must be jumped through in order to get 'so many points' on test X or lab report Z in undergrad. The big picture is fascinating as well as the minutest of details, but my enthusiasm for what I have come to call "Bulimic Academia" (endlessly memorize loads of trivial factoids and then dump at the end of the semester) was gone before I even started and I don't have much more gas to keep myself in this ridiculous points game much longer.

The only thing that keeps me going at this point, in fact, is the vision of the faces (and their mouths) of the needy children and adults who could really use my help after I (finally!) get this whole academic process behind me.

Any specific feedback and general advice on how to get enthusiastic about the Bulimia Academia marathon at my local public University would be much appreciated.😍

I'd like to know this too haha.

As for advice. Just make yourself believe really hard that it's interesting stuff.

I'm interested in this as well. Anyone know?! Also even before an acceptance do any schools wait for your fall semester grades before making a decision about you? Even if you have a pretty strong track record of a solid gpa?

2 anecdotal pieces of evidence...

One of my friends was accepted the day after he sent over his transcripts from the fall semester, it seemed in his case they were waiting to see 1 more semester of grades before making that final decision. It also could have been coincidence.

Another one of my friends was on the B/C border in a lot of his spring classes going into finals last semester. He called the dental school he was accepted to and they told him he needed to get B's to have his acceptance remain safe. In his acceptance letter it was stated that he needed to maintain GPA to keep said acceptance, thought it wasn't that strict he still would have been in hot water if he gotten a fist full of C's that semester.

Wow I didnt know acceptances could be revoked so easily.

I don't think they automatically will revoke your acceptance for getting a C, but you open up the possibility for that to happen if you do poorly in your last undergrad classes...that was my only point. If you continue to do well (A's and some B's) you have nothing to worry about.

Sorry to disappoint, but depending on your school you will likely experience some of this in dental school. At least until you are done with Part I boards.

Like to know this as well.
Been maintaining mainly A's for a quite a while now (a couple of semesters) and I don't think it's happening this semester with all the interviews and flying and all. Do I need an A (or A-) to maintain an acceptance? btw the last course I'm taking is a prereq for some schools 🙁

I called all 7 schools that I had interviewed and they said just pass your pre-reqs and if u drop a pre req just take it by summer.

I see you interviewed at UCSF. I was wondering what they specifically said about dropping a class? I tried calling but no one ever picks up...Did they say it was okay to drop a class, as long as you complete it before you begin? Or if you drop a class, do they re-review your file?

Thanks!

What about if you get a C in a non-prereq science class? Just curious... Of course I'm planning on not getting any, but you never know.

Oh, I didn't realize you guys were talking about pre-reqs. What if I get a C in, for example, a microbiology class? (So not necessarily a pre-req but a class dental schools like to see.) Because of unfortunate circumstances, I wasn't able to do well in the class so far, so I might get a C depending on the final.

all 7 schools told me to just pass the pre-reqs. its on their website C or better

Okay aznboi, I will trust your advice then. The prereqs I have already gotten good grades for Nova and other schools
