Please be brutally honest with me here. From personal experience, what kind of grades did you all get in the pre-requisites to get into a PA program and after you were in?

I ask because this last semester I got 2 A's and two B's in pretty basic classes (psych, sociology, spanish 2, and English Comp.) Granted I was going through a pretty nasty divorce but I was always taught to do the VERY best I could because it will always get harder. Something will happen to test your strength. Should I be worried about my performance in these classes? I'm set up to take Anatomy, Physiology, and Human Development next semester and I don't want to underestimate these classes.

Thanks!!

all a's and b's with some good clinical experience will get you into the pa program of your choice. add in a bunch of c's or minimal experience and your chances go down.

I agree with emedpa. These are very competitive programs. Your best bet is to ask the programs specifically what they're looking for and what your chances of admissions to their programs are.

I got a C in Organic Chem. On the other hand, so did about half the docs in the ED where I work. On the other other hand, PA school requires a different mix of prereqs than four-year med school. On still another hand, my 2000-some hours of experience and the fact that everything else was A's and B's in postbac made everything okay. Also, my GRE was... very good.

The point is, play to your strengths. Don't worry about being perfect, just be awesome at whatever you can be awesome at. I got into a pretty competitive program (they told us it's like 600 apps, for a class of 50 or so).
