I wanted to post this topic in this forum . By mistake posted in International Any how---

I was just wondering what difference does it make if you do residency from a hospital with a big name or just a community Hospital.

I know some one who has the credentials all of which will be considered 'not so positive' in medical field in a country like US.
Let me name them one by one

1. She is a FMG
2.She didnot know how to speak English when she came here in US 15 years ago
3. She did her residency at a hospital not considered as the best in the world
5.She did her Residency in Psychiatry!

(Psych people please do not get offended. I am just writing based on what many people think of psychiatrists)

Now making 400-500K in a year!! or may be more.

So what difference did it make ?!

Now I am talking only about money. I understand many people do not go to med schools just for the sake of money.I just wonder may be top notch medical schools make difference if you want to be in research or academic field but when it comes to the practice, only thing matters is how much hard work you put into it and how much more you are willing to do.
Just my thoughts---

No difference.. just make sure you place your diploma in obscure place. The name of your school is not required on your bill. Go for it!!! But do watch out for those nasty law suits they can wipe you out in a hearbeat!!!
