at NYCOM, it's mean-1 standard deviation. if that is 70 or higher, the pass is set at 70. however, if it's lower, than mean-1 STD would be the passing grade. i think we had an exam recently where it was 65 or something like that.
70% at TCOM. Final grades are occasionally curved. College policy dictates that no more than 5% of the class can fail a course and that the class average cannot fall below an 83%. This policy however is rarely implemented.
There are a couple of classes here and there where you need to get a 70% overall but cannot get lower than 60% on any exam in the course, etc. Generally speaking, however, it is usually 70% for most classes as FutureDO mentioned!
